Comparing Fractions Freebie

Hey all!! Sorry I haven't been posting too many freebies.... always remember though, 3-6 Free Resources is the place to come to check out the best upper elementary resources.  Thanks for following along!!

I just posted a Comparing Fractions freebie - your students will be using the greater than, less than, and equal to signs with different fractions.  My kiddos definitely need a little work with these so I figured I would post 2 printable worksheets about this topic.  Fonts from Kevin and Amanda, and the best borders from The 3AM Teacher :] My girl!

You can find it HERE on Teachers Notebook and HERE on Teachers Pay Teachers!!

Thank you so much :]

Fractions as an Ice Breaker??

Teachers Pay TeachersI don't know about everyone else, but I am working so diligently to stay focused on this year, but there is a tiny voice in my head that is already helping me plan for next year.  I also know that our crew at 3-6 Resources is doing an AMAZING job of sharing free resources from some FANTASTIC blogs!  So, I am veering off to share a resource from TeachersPayTeachers.  It is a freebie..of course!!  Breeze Through Math has created this fun Getting to Know You Fraction activity.    How great is that? First day team builders while starting curriculum right away. I love it! As I'm sure all the students will too!

Shared with Excitement, as always,

Fraction Art

I promise not to only share math ideas with you, but that's the area we're really hitting hard right now. We just finished working with fractions in what ended up being a pretty fun art adventure too. We used Ed Emberley's Picture Pie books to work with comparing, ordering, and adding fractions with different denominators. As a bonus, the work looks awesome in the hallway. Click on over to my blog to see our projects and grab your free data sheet. Remember, you can make it even more complex for your older students by requiring a variety of fractional pieces beyond what my third graders used!

Butterfly Fractions: Adding & Subtracting

Have you seen this super-easy way to teach adding and subtracting fractions? I loved the visual nature of it and how it could help remind kids where to keep all of the information as they solve.
